1037R..1972 Corvette ZR1 Coupe from the Ed Foss Collection, ZR1/LT1 special purpose engine package with M-22 heavy duty close ratio 4 speed, numbers matching original motor, transmission and rear end, also has factory original body/trim tag, 4 owner car with 24,604 actual miles. Pewter Silver paint with Saddle Tan interior. Super rare color combination and this ZR1 received an over $150,000.00 work of art body-off nut and bolt restoration by one of the most respected restoration shops in the collector car hobby, Kevin Mackay's Corvette Repair of Valley Stream, NY, for Ed Foss. Also has an affirmation by CCAS/Grenning as to the legitimacy and originality of the engine block, stamp pad, and the engine stamp. Bloomington Gold certified, multiple NCRS Top Flight awards (98.1% and 99%), Gold Spinner award and the Triple Crown award. Corvette Chief Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov factory-built extra-high-performance specials, which includes the original 1963 Z06, the 1969 ZL1 aluminum block, the 1970-72 ZR1 Special purpose LT1s. Rarer than the vaunted L88 with a total of only 53 produced in 1970 (25), 1971 (8), and 1972 (20). Code "Z" indicates Chevrolet Special Items Group. The first listing of ZR1 we are aware of is on a Chevrolet Motor Vehicle Price Guide dated April 1, 1970. This listing states: ZR1 Special Purpose Engine: (not recommended for normal traffic situations) Not available when power windows, power steering, air conditioning, audio alarm system, rear window defroster, wheel covers or radio is ordered. Includes 370-hp 350-cu-in engine, special 4-speed close-ratio transmission, HD power brakes, full transistor ignition system, aluminum radiator, special springs with matching shock absorbers, special front and rear stabilizer bars. The ZR1 option added $1,010.05 to the 1972 base price of $5,533.00 which is almost as much as the L88 option cost. The "Z" cars were described as Zora's Last Stand!, ie: ZR=Zora's Racers or ZR=Zora's Revenge. One of 20 ZR1's produced! One of 1,372 pewter silver and one of 1,741 LT1s produced in 1972!!! Radio delete car optioned with power brakes, shoulder harness, M-22, 3.70 posi, J-56 heavy duty brakes, F-41 special heavy duty suspension, SS dual pin brakes, with special springs and shocks, A.I.R./smog, 2-1/2" exhaust, audio alarm, tinted glass, rally wheels and F-70x15" blackwall tires. Documented with the warranty book/P.O.P., tank sticker, CCAS/Grenning Engine Stamp Affirmation, owner history, copy of the 1972 title, restoration receipts, historic photos, owners manual packet, inspection receipts back to 1972, oil change stickers, Bloomington, NCRS, Triple Crown certificates, NCRS judging awards confirmation and two 3-ring binders.
