1021T..1972 Duntov ZR1 Coupe from the Ed Foss Collection, ZR1/LT1 Special Purpose Engine Package with M-22 heavy duty close ratio 4-speed, numbers matching original motor, transmission and rear end, also has factory original/body trim, 42,563 actual miles. Ontario Orange paint with Black interior. Low-mile car that was body-on restored and is in show condition including its completely original interior. Bloomington Gold certified, multiple NCRS Regional and National Flight awards including the Duntov Mark of Excellence award in 2022. The expenses involved in obtaining these awards could surely exceed $20,000.00. Also has an affirmation by CCAS/Grenning as to the legitimacy and originality of the engine block, stamp pad, and the engine stamp.One of only 20 ZR1's produced in 1972. The ZR1 Package consisted of the LT1 engine, HD close ratio M22 4-speed transmission, heavy duty power brakes, transistor ignition, special aluminum radiator, and special springs and front and rear stabilizer bars. Corvette Chief Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov factory-built extra-high-performance specials, which includes the original 1963 Z06, the 1969 ZL1 aluminum block, the 1970-72 ZR1 Special purpose LT1s. Rarer than the vaunted L88 with a total of only 53 produced in 1970 (25), 1971 (8), and 1972 (20). Code "Z" indicates Chevrolet Special Items Group. The first listing of ZR1 we are aware of is on a Chevrolet Motor Vehicle Price Guide dated April 1, 1970. This listing states: ZR1 Special Purpose Engine: (not recommended for normal traffic situations) Not available when power windows, power steering, air conditioning, audio alarm system, rear window defroster, wheel covers or radio is ordered. Optioned with the ZR1 engine/heavy duty suspension/brake package, radio delete, heavy duty power brakes, shoulder harness, M-22 transmission, 3.70 posi, F-41 special heavy duty suspension, SS brakes, A.I.R., tinted glass, rally wheels and vintage Firestone wide oval tires. Most all factory correct type components including the spare, jack, jack tools, floor mats, TTop bags, shocks, seat belts, washer system, smog system, shifter, air cleaner, alternator, distributor, hoses, hose clamps, window glass, valve covers, starter, #6239 carb, expansion tank, radiator, gas door assembly, warranty book, owners manual, sales brochure, and T-3 headlights. Documented with the window sticker, warranty booklet/P.O.P., CCAS/Grenning Engine Stamp Affirmation, owners manual packet, Bloomington Gold certificate/judging sheets, NCRS certificates/ribbons and NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence plaque. Production date of July 18th, 1972 and delivered new by Dunlap Chevrolet in Macon, GA (dealer 199 in zone 8) per the official NCRS/GM Shipping Data Records (SDR). Looks, runs, and drives excellent.
