1014J..1963 Corvette Z06 Fuelie Split Window Tanker Coupe, VIN 6844. Specially GM assigned to legendary Corvette racing team owner Mickey Thompson who already received 4 of the first 15 Z06's produced. This car being Mickey's fifth became his personal driver and promotional car used to promote Mickey Thompson Rader/Radir MT wheels and other racing products. The special performance option, RPO-Z06, was purpose built for factory backed SCCA Racing and a true weapons grade road warrior, built and raced to defend the honor of the Corvette brand. Battleground ready and Chevrolet's own "Delta Force"!! Mickey's close friendship with Bunky Knudsen may explain how one privateer could receive 5 of the first 20 assigned Z06's when many other race teams and Chevrolet dealers received NONE! Researched, confirmed, and documented by Corvette expert David Burroughs 24-page "Prove It" report. Extremely rare, this is one of 63 N03 Big Tank Coupes with the RPO-Z06 racing option, which also included the L84 360 horsepower engine, courtesy of the sophisticated Rochester mechanical fuel injection, 11.0:1 compression, low restriction exhaust and a hot solid lifter camshaft. All told, 2610 Corvettes were equipped with the RPO L84 fuelie engine in 1963 and only 199 equipped with the RPO-Z06 special performance equipment package and only 63 with the RPO N03 36-gallon long range fuel tank. Ermine White paint with Black interior. Restored in show condition. These type restorations cost between $100,000.00 to $150,000.00. Options include: 360 hp fuel injected 327 with T-10 4-speed transmission and 4:11 posi traction rear end and of course Z06 heavy duty brakes, suspension, dual circuit power brake (Z06 only) master cylinder, the super rare N03 36-gallon fuel tank, Mickey Thompson Rader/Radir lightweight alloy wheels mounted on 6.70x15" bias ply tires. Being purpose built and assigned to a California race team, you will not find a radio or heater. Awards and invitationals include the NCRS Special Interest Display awards in 2003, 1998, and 1997, Chevy Vette Fest Nationals Showcase certificate, Bloomington Gold Special Collection, National Corvette Museum 18-month exhibition, America's Dream Corvette 60th Anniversary display, Z06 Tanker Survey, and the Hot Rod Power Festival Award of Excellence. Also displayed at the Beverly Hills Greystone Mansion Concours d'Elegance. Documented with Mickey Thompson's Chevron credit card which was found in the driver's door by the owner, Mike Pillsbury, a NCRS/GM Shipping Data Report, and the Burrough's "Prove It" report. Also includes a 3-ring binder of show/display awards and restoration receipts. This car is jewelry and show ready for any concours or display!!! Production date of January 14th, 1963 and delivered new by Don Steves Chevrolet in LaHara, California (dealer code 519 in zone 20) per the official NCRS/GM Shipping Data Records (SDR). It seems likely that Mickey Thompson would have spent more time driving this Z06 than all four of his others combined. Q: What did the fastest man in the world at the time drive to work? A: This little split window Corvette, VIN 6844! This split window Corvette coupe is one of those precious few, and it is even more special with confirmed and documented provenance as the daily driver of Corvette racing team owner legendary Mickey Thompson.
