1026F..1954 Corvette Convertible, Blue Flame Six with powerglide transmission. Numbers matching original motor with 1,455 actual miles since new. This is the lowest mile C1 known to exist! Polo White paint with Sportsman Red interior and Beige soft top. Body-off restored by William Kuhn and car is in show condition. These type restorations normally cost between $125,000.00 to $175,000.00. NCRS Top Flight award August 2014. Now the real story... This car was the first prize award of the Long Gray Line/Tom Duggan Show/TV Guide/Whoozits Contest on March 21st, 1955 where Robert E. Schroeder received a Western Union telegraph to appear on the Chicago area Tom Duggan show (KCOP-Channel 13) to receive the keys by Ed Pacdur-editor TV Guide. Mr. Schroeder owned this car until purchased by Tom West of ProTeam Corvette who then sold this car to a collector in Western, PA. Mr. Schroeder only drove this car 1,368 miles as it was very uncomfortable as he was 6 foot 7 inches tall. Tom West described the storage garage as "falling down around the car." The car was painted red per dealer invoice for the contest but appeared to be an Earl Schreib-type paint job. Originally the car was built as Polo White per forensic inspection prior to restoration. The personalities involved with this car's history would make good reading in book form as one person was run-out of Chicago and one was rumored to be arrested via the RICO act. Optioned with powerglide, Wonderbar radio, e-brake warning light, aluminized exhaust, windshield washers, courtesy lights, heater, hubcaps, and 6.70x15" wide white tires. Most all factory correct type components including the spare, jack, jack tools, trunk mat, trunk liner, side windows, side window bag, rebound straps, spiral shocks, washer system, shifter, shielding, air cleaners, generator, distributor, hoses, hose clamps, hood alignment blocks, window glass, valve cover, hood pop-ups, side draft carbs, #241 head, expansion tank, guide Y-50 mirror, owners manual, and sales brochure. Documented with pre-restoration photos, restoration photos/receipts, Merit Chevrolet dealer invoice, warranty pamphlet, mileage affidavit from original owner, all warning and instruction tags and operating instructions, original telegram, 3-page itemized authenticity letter from the restorer, complete owner history, Merit Chevrolet name plate, original 1957 license plate and four large 3-ring binders. Reading through all the documentation and history is not for the faint of heart as Chicago and Western Pennsylvania are plain notorious. You will not like my price but you will love this car and its story and history, If you are the winning bidder, you will have bragging rights to The Lowest Mile C1 in the World and maybe someone will pay you one million dollars for the book/movie rights!:-> Invited to the 36th Annual Ault Park Concours d'Elegance in June 2014. Looks, runs, and drives excellent. Click Here to read ProTeam's description on March 1st, 1991 after initial purchase. CC:1 email: terry@proteamcorvette.com SOLD Share on Facebook |
